Arcadia’s Dominick Tello Grabs Spot On All-CIF Squad
By Aaron Valdez
Arcadia baseball’s stalwart infielder Dominick Tello was named to the Division 3 All-CIF Southern Section Baseball Team.
The junior was an integral part in the Apaches’ lineup as he is the only Pacific League representative on the 15-man roster. His stellar play in the infield and reliable bat helped lead Arcadia to its best start in program history with 21 straight wins.
Tello was the Apaches’ season leader in RBIs with 29 while batting at a .384 clip, which ranked third on the team among players who had at least 60 at-bats. The two-year varsity slugger also recorded 59 hits in 52 games this season, good enough for an on-base percentage of .418.
Some of Tello’s best performances this year came during the Frozen Ropes Classic final against Etiwanda and in a league bout against Pasadena.
In the game against Etiwanda, Tello went 2-for-4 with two RBIs as the Apaches earned the 6-2 victory over the Eagles. Tello posted the same exact numbers in the contest against Pasadena as the Apaches downed the Bulldogs 8-0.
Unfortunately for Tello and the rest of the Apaches, their magical season was cut short after Long Beach Wilson defeated them in the second round of the CIF-SS playoffs.
