Arcadia Crime Blotters: June 24 – June 30

June 24

Shortly before 1:28 a.m., officers responded to the area of Baldwin Avenue and the 210 Freeway regarding a group of reckless drivers. The officer conducted an enforcement stop on one of the vehicles for speeding. The 20-year-old male from Los Angeles was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

At approximately 12:49 p.m., an officer conducted a welfare check on a subject lying on the floor near LA Fitness, 1325 South Baldwin Avenue. Upon contacting him, the subject started urinating in public. The officer also saw an open can of alcohol next to the man. The 59-year-old male from Duarte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

June 25

Just after 5:44 a.m., an officer responded to the 00 block of West Floral Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect entered the unlocked vehicle and stole a hospital badge, car charger, lunch box and various pieces of paperwork. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

At approximately 5:57 a.m., an officer responded to Cabreras, 625 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) smashed a rear glass door and activated the alarm. No loss has been reported. It is believed the suspects were scared off by the alarm. The investigation is ongoing.

Around 11:05 a.m., an officer responded to the Santa Anita Race Track, 245 West Huntington Drive, regarding a battery report. An altercation between two elderly siblings escalated when the brother hit the sister causing a black eye. The 60-year-old male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Just before 2:08 p.m., an officer received notification that an Automated License Plate Reader System located a stolen vehicle near the intersection of Live Oak Avenue and Sixth Avenue. The vehicle was located and during a search of the vehicle, a meth pipe was found. The suspect, a 35-year-old male from El Monte, was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

June 26

At about 5:36 p.m., an officer responded to Nordstrom, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a counterfeit report. The officer determined the suspect passed $200 in fraudulent bills on June 11th. The suspect, a 24-year-old female from Long Beach is outstanding at the time of this report.

June 27

Shortly after 9:00 a.m., an officer responded to the Hampton Inn Hotel, 311 East Huntington Drive, regarding a theft report. Surveillance footage revealed an unknown male suspect stole the victim’s backpack while it was next to her.

The suspect is described as either Hispanic or Middle Eastern, 6’ tall, heavy set, wearing a white dress shirt and a navy blue suit coat. The investigation is ongoing.

June 28

Before 2:03 a.m., an officer responded to 7 Eleven, 200 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a robbery report. Surveillance footage revealed the suspect entered the location, pointed a handgun at the clerk, demanded money, and fled in a white sedan.

The suspect is described as a male, 5’4”, 140 pounds, wearing a hooded jacket and light colored gloves. The investigation is ongoing.

Around 8:35 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 500 block of Workman Avenue regarding an audible alarm activation. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect shattered a rear glass door and fled once the alarm activated. No loss was reported and no witnesses were located. The investigation is ongoing.

June 29

At about 12:19 p.m., an officer conducted a vehicle check in the 1100 block of Colorado Boulevard. Upon contacting the driver of the parked vehicle, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath.  The officer located numerous empty cans of alcohol inside of the vehicle and subsequently arrested the 37-year-old male from Covina for Drunk In Public. He was transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

June 30

Shortly after 3:31 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle in the area of Baldwin Avenue and Duarte Road for straddling lanes. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his person. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the suspect was driving under the influence of alcohol. The 19-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

At approximately 8:34 a.m., an officer responded to the 1400 block of Santa Margarita Drive regarding a possible mail theft report. The victim discovered their mail box had been tampered with and there was no mail. Surveillance footage of a nearby residence showed a female suspect near the victim’s mailbox. The investigation is ongoing.

Just before 4:13 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Paloma Drive regarding a grand theft report. An investigation revealed an adult male used his grandfather’s credit card to make unauthorized purchases and the suspect also transferred money from his grandfather’s account into a mobile payment service account. The 28-year-old male from Arcadia is outstanding at the time of this report.
