Hand in Paw Rescue to Hold Special Fundraiser in Monrovia
By Staff
Hand in Paw is having a silent auction featuring various gift items, dog and non-dog related, on July 14 in Monrovia.
Hand in Paw is a registered 501c3 (Tax ID#27-1990752) dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of abandoned, homeless, and abused dogs. They seek to educate the public about the crisis of overpopulation, irresponsible breeding, puppy mills, neglect and abuse, as well as the importance of spaying and neutering pets. Hand in Paw has a firm belief that the special bond between dogs and humans is something that everyone should experience, and that there are many benefits that result from the adoption of an animal in need.
Hand in Paw owner Piper Wood grew up in Altadena, and felt an affinity with animals from birth. Her family dog was an abused rescue that was her childhood best friend. Soon, she was picking up stray dogs off the street, and any other animals that needed to be nursed back to health.
Piper attended USC, where she studied Psychology. She went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Autism/Applied Behavioral Analysis, as well as a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice. She was a behavioral therapist for children and adults with Autism, and later became a Police Officer for the city of Glendale. She also earned her Culinary Arts degree and ran her private chef and catering business for several years. But animals have always been where her heart is. Hand in Paw is Piper’s lifelong dream, and she is honored to run such a wonderful organization.
