New Chamber Board members and Board officers honored along with local businesses, scholarship winners, and more

Pasadena Chamber of Commerce members, community leaders, and guests will celebrate the City’s business community at the annual Pasadena Chamber of Commerce Inaugural Gala on June 29. The hosted cocktail reception and silent auction will begin at 6 p.m. at the Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena. Dinner and the festive program will begin at 7:30 p.m.

This year, the Chamber celebrates the installation of Karl Bird of Jet Propulsion Laboratory as Chair of the Board for 2018-19. The Chamber will also thank and recognize Robin McCarthy of Ste. Marie Specialists who has served as Board Chair for the 2017-18 fiscal year. New officers and Board members will also be installed for the year.

“The Board chair has a unique opportunity to shape and direct Chamber policies and programs during their year leading the Board,” said Chamber President and CEO Paul Little. “Robin McCarthy helped focus some attention on our non-profit members which led to the non-profit Mission Match job fair we hosted at Pasadena City College in March. Karl Bird has been chair of our Economic and Business Development Committee during the years our procurement fair evolved into a viable partnership with JPL and the City of Pasadena. Karl also helped germinate and grow our Economic and Business Summit into a successful convening of business and community thought leaders each October. I look forward to working with him over the next year to further grow and expand our offerings for members and contribution to the local community and economy.”

Incoming Board members are Nerissa Sugars of Hollywood Burbank Airport, Patricia Breen of Pacific Oaks College and Children’s School, Betty Ma of Pacific Starr Group, and Jesse Dillon of the Pasadena Independent/Beacon Media News.

The evening will feature the presentation of scholarships to local students. The Pasadena Chamber will also recognize a small member business, Pasadena Ronald McDonald House, and a large member business, California Linen Services, as Corporate Citizen of the Year.

There will be some special presentations, as well as an appreciation of the first member with 100 years of continuous membership in the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, Anderson Business Technology.

Corporate tables cost $2000. Individual tickets to the Inaugural Gala cost $200. Valet parking and a hosted cocktail reception are included along with dinner and the festive celebratory program. You can purchase tickets at www.pasadena-chamber.org/forms/inaugural-gala-and-silent-auction/. For more information, call (626)795-335 or email leanne@pasadena-chamber.org.

Chamber members contribute thousands of dollars’ worth of valuable and unique services, products, and treats for the silent auction.
