“Just like fire, burning out the way, if I can light up the world for just one day…”

Arcadia High School’s (AHS) eminent choral groups concluded the successful 2018 season with a “fire” show at the Arcadia Performing Arts Center (PAC) last Friday, May 25 and Saturday, May 26. At AHS, the choir groups are split into two: the mixed choir group and the advanced choir group Chanteurs. Impressively, Chanteurs is the oldest show choir in Southern California.

In the fall semester Chanteurs is a concert choir performing classical pieces while in the spring semester it is a show choir that incorporates dance choreography with vocals under a particular theme. This year’s theme was ‘Fire,’ and Chanteurs proved with its accomplished season (5th at the Los Alamitos Xtravaganza and 6th at the Burbank Blast! competitions) that its shows were nothing less than fire.

Fortunately, friends and family were able to see the show choir performances and several others showcased at the annual May Show, including pop music, senior solos, show sets, and Chanteurs cabaret.

On Friday, audience members enjoyed a panoply of senior solos, as well as several show numbers performed during show choir competition season. Among the featured were Mixed Chorus: Imagination Station and Chanteurs Senior Solos, and Chanteurs: Fire! Saturday’s show featured smaller groups, including solos and duets by Chanteurs cabaret. AHS students proved their innumerable talents even further as they sang numbers in French and Chinese.

As a conclusion to AHS Choir’s hard work and dedication this year, May Show allowed friends and family to marvel at such a complete culmination of everyone’s talents. Special thanks to the performers, Dr. Pu, The Arcadia Performing Arts Foundation, Arcadia Music Club, and friends and family for a wonderful show.
