The City Council has approved the Monrovia Legacy Project. It’s taken nearly three years to organize, digitize, and load the City Historian’s collections of historic photographs and papers to create an online collection. Now, you can browse over 5,000 historic photos and nearly 1,000 documents on our city’s rich history, including: city directories from the 1900s, house histories, out of print Monrovia history books, and much more.
You can find the resource on the Library’s website under the heading, Monrovia Historical Collections and Monrovia Legacy Project. Click on “Photos” to see individual records. Click on ‘’Documents” to find the link to open each document. Search for things of special interest using “Keyword Search,” and use quotation marks to narrow your search. Eventually, the resource will also link to online databases for the Monrovia Historical Museum and items from the City’s own local history collection.
