In preparation for a concert tour of Lebanon, mezzo-soprano Trisha Rivera and bass-baritone Raed Saade will perform with guest mezzo-soprano Megan Gillespie on Saturday, May 26 at 5:00 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church (122 S. California Avenue at Foothill Boulevard in Monrovia). Admission is free, though donations in support of the tour are welcome. Rivera, who has sung throughout the U.S. and Europe, is a soloist and alto section leader of the choir at St. Luke’s. Saade, a contestant on NBC’s “The Voice, has been heard in many regional opera productions. He is a soloist and section leader at First Congregational Church of Los Angeles.

On Sunday, June 3 at 4:00 p.m. the singers of Jouyssance will join the instrumentalists of Los Angeles Baroque in a concert of works by Henry Purcell and other baroque composers. Tickets are $25 for the general public, $20 for seniors and Southern California Early Music Society members, and $15 for students. They may be purchased at the door or ordered in advance at brownpapertickets.com. The LA-based Jouyssance is dedicated to making music of the Medieval, Renaissance, and early Baroque periods relevant to contemporary audiences.

Finally, the San Gabriel Valley Choral Company will present a concert of hits from Broadway musicals on Saturday, June 9 at 7:30 p.m. Works will include selections from Les Miserables, Porgy and Bess, and The Sound of Music. There will also be a medley of Andrew Lloyd Webber hits and more. Tickets start at $20 ($15 students/seniors, $5 children under 12) and may be ordered at eventbrite.com for an additional handling fee. The ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Alexandra Grabarchuk, includes singers from the San Gabriel Valley, Inland Empire and other local communities. Their repertoire includes music from the Renaissance to the late 20th century.
