Arcadia Crime Blotters: April 29 – May 5

April 29

Shortly before 5:44 p.m., an officer responded to Vons, 745 West Naomi Avenue, regarding a shoplift report. The officer discovered the suspect, a 23-year-old male from Compton, concealed groceries in his backpack prior to exiting the store, failing to make payment. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

At approximately 11:02 p.m., officers responded to a traffic collision near the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Baldwin Avenue. Upon contacting the drivers, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from one of them. A field sobriety test determined the 29-year-old male from Pasadena had a blood alcohol content of .20%. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The suspect was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for evaluation.

April 30

Just after 3:15 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding a theft report. An investigation revealed the victim accidentally transferred $1,300.00 into the wrong account and the receiver of said money refused to return the funds.  The suspect is a male from Arcadia and an acquaintance of the victim. The investigation is ongoing.

May 1

Around 11:55 a.m., an officer responded to Abercrombie and Fitch, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. Surveillance footage revealed four suspects stole approximately $2,490.00 worth of jeans. All of the suspects are described as Hispanic females, ages 18 to 25-years-old. The investigation is ongoing.

Just before 11:24 p.m., an officer responded to the 700 block of West Huntington Drive regarding a welfare check of a disoriented female. Upon contacting the woman, the officer discovered she had recently been slapped in the face by her fiancé, a 38-year-old male from Arcadia. Officers located, arrested, and transported the suspect to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

May 2

Shortly after 6:55 p.m., an officer responded to 24 Hour Fitness, 125 North First Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary report. An investigation revealed an unidentified suspect entered the men’s locker room, broke into the victim’s locker, and stole his wallet, cell phone, and car keys. The officer discovered two other victims had their lockers broken into and their property stolen as well. The investigation is ongoing.

At about 10:07 p.m., an officer responded to the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a stolen vehicle report. Between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 1999 Honda Civic from the parking lot. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

May 3

Before 12:02 a.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the intersection of Huntington Drive and Baldwin Avenue for driving while using a cellphone. A records check revealed the suspect, a 58-year-old male from Norwalk, had three misdemeanor warrants. During a consensual search of the vehicle, the officer located a methamphetamine pipe. The driver was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

At approximately 5:34 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 00 block of Woodland Lane regarding a package theft report. Surveillance footage revealed the suspect exited a green Honda Civic, stole the victim’s package and fled.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 30-years-old, wearing a white tank top, black pants, and an LA Dodger hat. The investigation is ongoing.

May 4

At about 1:55 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle in the area of Magna Vista Avenue and Santa Anita Avenue for speeding. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the suspect was driving with a blood alcohol content of .179%. The 20-year-old male from Los Angeles was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Just before 12:14 p.m., an officer responded to Victoria’s Secret, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary report. A witness told the store manager that a single suspect stole approximately 204 pairs of panties, resulting in a total loss of $3,366.00.

The suspect is described as a white male with orange hair, approximately 5’8” tall, with an average build. The investigation is ongoing.

May 5

Shortly after 3:23 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of Coyle Avenue regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspects entered the home while the victim was out of the country and it is unknown if any property was stolen. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

At approximately 6:21 p.m., an officer responded to the Santa Anita Race Track, 285 West Huntington Drive, regarding a battery report. A male victim was attacked by a male suspect for no apparent reason. The suspect, a 42-year-old male from Beverly Hills, was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
