Heading into the final stretch of the season, the Polytechnic Panthers are closing in on the Prep League title as they are sitting pretty at the top of the standings with an unscathed 7-0 record.
The Panthers are enjoying themselves a relatively successful 2018 campaign, having only lost two of their 19 total games. Both those losses came during back-to-back games against Rio Hondo League heavyweights Monrovia and Temple City.
However, Polytechnic went on a 13-game win streak since its last loss to Temple City back in March. The streak includes victories mainly against league opponents but also includes a 7-0 shutout over Mountain View, two wins over Oxford Academy in Maranatha’s Minutemen Invitational and a 2-0 series win over Providence.
In the Panthers’ latest outing on Saturday, they trounced Dunn 11-4, who is another non-league opponent. At this point in the season, Polytechnic is no question in the driver’s seat with five league game left but Rio Hondo Prep are still on the Panthers’ tails as they own a 6-3 record.
