William E. Thomson, Jr, Esq, a distinguished Intellectual Property litigation attorney with the firm Brooks Kushman P.C. and a former Mayor of Pasadena, has been elected President of the Board of Trustees of the Pasadena Museum of History for 2018-2019.

A staunch advocate of the Museum, Thomson is dedicated to promoting it throughout Pasadena and the Los Angeles area.  “Our Museum offers a wide range of engaging programs and educational opportunities for people of all ages and interests. It is a well-kept secret, and we will work hard to overcome this and make sure that our mission and resources are recognized throughout Southern California and beyond.” Thomson joined the PMH Board in 2011. He has served on several standing Board Committees, including the Lease and Land Committee, the Nominating Committee, and the Executive Committee. In addition, he and his wife Carol served as Event Chairs for the Museum’s 2016 and 2017 Galas.

Thomson brings a wealth of leadership, experience, and community involvement to his new position with the Museum. He was Mayor of Pasadena from 1988 to 1990 and a member of the Pasadena City Council from 1981 to 1997. He is also a former member of the Board of Trustees of Pasadena City College and Past President of the Pasadena Educational Foundation. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center and is a Board member and Co-Chair of the Capital Campaign for the Huntington Medical Research Institute.

In his professional life, Thomson has litigated a broad spectrum of complex patent and other intellectual property cases, particularly pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical, and computer technology matters. An accomplished trial lawyer, he has represented major clients in jury and court trials, and before the International Trade Commission. For his achievements, Thomson has been honored by recognition in Who’s Who in American Law. He received his Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center and a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Bucknell University.
