ChapCare began its journey 20 years ago with its first clinic in the Northwest part of Pasadena. Since then, the community clinic has established a total of eight locations within the San Gabriel Valley, including in the cities Pasadena, Monrovia, El Monte, and South El Monte. Its services, which was originally just health care, has also expanded to dental, vision, women’s health, behavior health, pediatric and family services, enrollment assistance, and outreach services.

ChapCare’s advancements prove its ability to achieve success in its mission statement, “to provide excellent, comprehensive and innovative health care that is accessible to all the residents of the San Gabriel Valley.”

Not only has the clinic been able to achieve its goal of providing a wide variety of health care services throughout the San Gabirel Valley, but it has also been able to accomplish partnerships that truly give patients an easier way to take care of their health. For instance, its partnership with the nationally renowned rideshare mobile app Lyft helps provide discounted rides to first-time users.

As a Covered California Navigator Grantee, ChapCare provides health insurance enrollment assistance at its El Monte Enrollment Shop. In additional efforts to meet the needs of the community ChapCare has partnered with organizations such as CalFresh, WIC and California Lifeline.

In addition to assisting in transportation and health care enrollment, ChapCare has made it a point to help their patients obtain the necessary pharmaceuticals by placing pharmacies or dispensaries on-site. Medical deliveries are also offered.

It goes without saying that ChapCare has gained the support and respect of the cities it serves, as the clinic has multiple municipal partnerships within every city where a clinic is located.

ChapCare CEO Margaret B. Martinez, MPH said the clinic’s proudest achievement has been “to make a change in the picture of health disparity in the communities we serve.”

ChapCare will be taking a look back at its history, who they are today, and what its future holds at its 20 year anniversary being held on April 21, 2018 at its Lincoln location. The keynotes speakers include Assemblymember Chris Holden and Dr. Nathan Lewis, M.D., a ChapCare Founding Board Member. NBC 4 Investigative Reporter, Lolita Lopez, will serve as Master of Ceremony for the event. The organization hopes that everyone who has participated in ChapCare’s growth will join the event.
