As the Muir softball team dives deeper into Pacific League play, the Mustangs will quickly need to develop some sort of consistency if they plan to contend for the title.

In recent years, the Mustangs have never turned out to be serious contender for the Pacific League title. However, Lester Gamble and his squad are more determined than even to make some real noise this season.

With two league games already its belt, Muir is still in good position to challenge teams like Crescenta Valley (2-0 Pacific, 13-1 Overall) and Burbank (2-0 Pacific, 5-3 Overall). The Mustangs seemed to have gotten off on the right foot by handing Hoover an 11-8 defeat to open league play.

Despite the impressive outing, Muir followed up the win with an uninspired performance in a 13-3 loss to Glendale. It was evident their consistency issue reared its ugly head during the loss, especially considering that the Mustangs had actually opened up a 3-1 in the second inning.

By the time this article is published, Muir will have already been put through the test with a contest against Burbank on Tuesday. The Mustangs will then be heading to Burroughs for a game against the Indians on Thursday.
