Arcadia Crime Blotters March 11 to March 17

March 11

Just after 3:00 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Springhill Suites by Marriott, 99 North Second Avenue, regarding a subject seen loitering to the front of the location. The officer contacted the subject and a consensual search of his backpack revealed he was in possession of methamphetamine. The 22-year-old male from Downey was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Just before 4:00 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Baldwin Avenue and Duarte Road for speeding. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 30-year-old female from Temple City was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

March 12

Just before 1:00 a.m., an officer responded to the front counter of the Arcadia Police Department, 250 West Huntington Drive, regarding the report of a robbery. The victim stated he was inside his vehicle parked on Arcadia Avenue with his driver side window down when he was approached by two male suspects. One suspect demanded his property and told the victim that he had a knife. The second suspect opened his passenger door and removed the victim’s backpack. The suspects are described as two male Asians wearing dark hooded sweatshirts. The investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 3:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West Naomi Avenue regarding a suspicious vehicle with subjects seen looking into mailboxes. Officers located the vehicle and its three occupants. An investigation revealed they were in possession of stolen property, burglary tools, and methamphetamine. One subject had outstanding warrants for his arrest and was also charged with resisting arrest. The 32-year-old male from Fontana, 35-year-old male from Alhambra, and 29-year-old male from Whittier were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

March 13

Just after 10:00 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Hacienda Drive regarding an auto burglary investigation. The victim told officers he saw an unknown suspect cut the lock securing the roll up door to his truck. The suspect then stole his gardening equipment and fled the scene in a white truck. The suspect was described as a male Black wearing a black hat, a black shirt, a yellow reflective vest and green pants.

Just before midnight, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of West Le Roy Avenue regarding a residential burglary. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) made entry by unknown means, stole jewelry, and fled the scene in an unknown direction. The investigation is ongoing.

March 14

Just after 8:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Le Roy Avenue regarding a residential burglary. Unknown suspects forced entry into the home by breaking a bedroom window. Three suspects, described as Caucasian males with dark hair, were seen fleeing the residence. They entered an awaiting vehicle, described as a white late model sedan, and fled the scene eastbound on Le Roy Avenue.

Just before 11:00 p.m., an officer responded to the 800 block of West Naomi Avenue regarding an activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS tracker. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed decoy packages containing bait property and tracking devices to combat the increase in package thefts from residential areas. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect stole the package and fled the scene on a bicycle. The package was found abandoned along with a bicycle near a residence in the 9000 block of East Naomi Avenue.

March 15

At approximately 7:30 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot of Nordstrom, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding the report of an attempted robbery. The victim told officers she was retrieving items from the backseat of her car when the suspect, described as a male Hispanic wearing a red shirt and blue jeans, grabbed her purse. The victim clutched her purse tightly and the suspect eventually let her purse go and fled the scene by entering the passenger side of an awaiting red four door sedan.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1300 block of Oakwood Avenue regarding a burglary. The officer determined unidentified suspect(s) entered the residence by smashing a window to the master bedroom. The suspect(s) then ransacked the residence before fleeing. The loss was undetermined due to the fact that the residents were out of the country at the time of the burglary. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located. The investigation is ongoing.

March 16

Just after 11:30 a.m., an officer was dispatched to H Mart, 1101 West Huntington Drive, regarding a subject being detained for theft. An investigation revealed the subject stole a can of soda and hid it in his coat. Employees contacted the subject and asked him to return the can of soda. The subject then raised his skateboard over his head and threatened to hit the employees with it. The employees followed the subject outside, rushed him, and a struggle ensued. The subject bit one of the employees during the struggle. The 23-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Just after 12:00 p.m., officers responded to a hotel room at Motel 6, 225 Colorado Place, regarding a domestic disturbance. Officers contacted the victim in the room and noticed she had visible injury to her face. She stated her boyfriend had pushed her to the ground causing her to hit her eye on a piece of luggage. The suspect then fled the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

March 17

At around 4:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to Walgreens, 253 East Foothill Boulevard, regarding a commercial burglary that had just occurred. Three unknown suspects made entry by prying open the front door of the location. They attempted to access the pharmacy department and fled the scene when they were unsuccessful. The suspects are described as males wearing hooded sweatshirts and black gloves. The investigation is ongoing.

Just before 11:00 p.m., an officer responded to First Cabin Bar, 46 East Huntington Drive, regarding a male subject causing a disturbance. The subject had been verbally assaulting several people. Upon contacting the 51-year-old male from Covina, the officer noticed symptoms of alcohol intoxication and determined the suspect was unable to care for himself. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
