more than $300,000 in grants available to California’s k-8 public and charter schools

Plymouth Elementary School is excited to share that it is participating in the 2018 Scholar Dollars Grant Program, which is part of a statewide initiative from State Treasurer John Chiang and ScholarShare 529, California’s College Savings Plan, focused on supporting K-8 public and charter schools throughout California.

The Scholar Dollars grants are intended to help fund extracurricular and enrichment programs at K-8 public and charter schools. Grants are available in varying amounts, up to $30,000, depending on the school’s enrollment size.

If selected, Plymouth plans to use the money to fund new library books and update the school library. Almost 75% of the current library collection is over 20 years old. A large portion of the grant will go towards the purchase of books that are more relevant and appealing to Plymouth students.

As part of Plymouth Elementary School’s work to improve the lives of children and families, we’re asking our members and supporters to spread the word about Scholar Dollars.

All members of the Monrovia community are encouraged to vote once per day at MyScholarDollars.com through March 23, 2018. Community participation is a critical component for helping Plymouth win a grant, so please vote often and help spread the word about this important program, encouraging others to vote, too.

For more information on the program, including the rules or to vote for Plymouth Elementary School, visit MyScholarDollars.com/rules.
