2018 Wistaria Festival is March 18th from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Sierra Madre (N. Baldwin Avenue Sierra Madre, CA 91024). The Wistaria Vine is a blooming plant reported to be the world’s largest in world will be on display during Sierra Madre’s Annual Wistaria Festival. The massive vine bears delicately scented lavender blooms, the color everyone most often associate with wistaria (also spelled, “wisteria”). Visitors are invited to stroll beneath the arbor supporting the branches of the 112-year-old vine (planted in 1894 and of the Chinese lavender variety), displaying more than a million blossoms, it is 1 acre in size and estimated to weigh at least 250 tons. That must be one sturdy garden arbor! Downtown Sierra Madre is also changed in to an open market with all kind of craft and food. Examine Jan Davidzoon de Heem’s use of precise line and color in Vase of Flowers, and then work directly from nature in the Sculpture Garden.
