Arcadia Crime Blotters Feb. 25 to Mar. 3

Feb 25

Just before 8:30 a.m., an officer noticed a vehicle stopped at a green light on Santa Anita Avenue near the 210 Freeway. The officer discovered the driver had fallen asleep. Further investigation revealed the driver was in possession of fraudulent credit cards and a credit card skimming device. The 29-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Just after 2:00 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Baldwin Avenue and Fairview Avenue for an equipment violation. Upon contacting the driver, the officer discovered the 34-year-old male from Arcadia was driving without a license. He was cited and released in the field. The vehicle was left legally parked.

Feb 26

At approximately 11:00 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 2000 block of Highland Oaks Avenue regarding an audible alarm. An investigation revealed the suspect smashed the kitchen window of the home. During the investigation, officers were notified of a second burglary that had just occurred in the area.  Officers responding to the second burglary located a vehicle parked with the driver reclined all the way back in his seat, with the engine still running. Officers contacted the driver and discovered he had dropped off the burglary suspect and was waiting for him. A perimeter was established, but the burglary suspect was not located. The 17-year-old male driver from Los Angeles was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Just before 9:30 p.m., an officer, who was patrolling the area of First Avenue and Alta Avenue, contacted a bicyclist riding on the sidewalk. A consensual search of the subject led to the discovery of a stolen badge and methamphetamine. The 27-year-old male from San Gabriel was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Feb 27

At approximately 6:00 p.m., an officer responded to Nordstrom, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. The victim placed her purse on the counter to pay for her items when the unknown suspect came up from behind her, stole her purse and ran out of the store. The suspect was described as a male Hispanic wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a baseball cap. The investigation is ongoing.

Just before 8:00 p.m., a witness reported that she was following a possible drunk driver who struck a guard rail along the 210 Freeway. The suspect vehicle exited the freeway and parked in a parking lot on Foothill Boulevard. Officers arrived and contacted the driver. Upon contacting the driver, the officers detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. Through a series of tests, it was determined that the 48-year-old male from Pasadena was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Feb 28

Just after 11:20 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of South Fourth Avenue regarding a burglary. An investigation revealed unidentified suspect(s) entered the residence by smashing a rear sliding glass door. The suspect(s) ransacked the residence and fled the scene. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located. The investigation is ongoing.

Just before 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of East Live Oak Avenue regarding a domestic dispute. The suspect wrestled his fiancée to the ground, grabbed her head and placed his hands around her face to prevent her from screaming. This left visible injury to her face. The 41-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Mar 1

Just after 6:30 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Huntington Drive and Santa Anita Avenue for driving erratically and having expired registration. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the driver. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 59-year-old male from Monrovia was driving under the influence marijuana. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Just before 10:00 p.m., officers responded to Arcadia Garden Café, 850 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding the report of an attempted robbery. The victim stated the suspect came up from behind her and tried to pull her purse off of her shoulder. The suspect eventually fled without the purse. He was described as a male Hispanic, approximately five feet, ten inches tall, medium build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a blue bandana covering his nose and mouth.

Mar 2

Just after midnight, an officer contacted a bicyclist riding in a crosswalk without required light equipment, in the area of Sixth Avenue and Duarte Road. A consensual search of the subject revealed she was in possession of drug paraphernalia. The 34-year-old female from Arcadia was issued a citation and released at the scene.

Just after 7:00 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Victoria’s Secret, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. An investigation revealed a male suspect removed a collapsible tote bag from inside his jacket. He filled it with 45 bras valued at $2,633.00 and fled the scene. He was described as a male Hispanic between 25 and 30-years-old, wearing a gray jacket and blue denim pants.

Mar 3

Just before 4:30 p.m., an officer responded to the Peacock Parking Structure of Westfield Santa Anita, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a subject yelling and spitting at mall security officers. Upon contacting the 34-year-old male from Los Angeles, the officer noticed symptoms of alcohol intoxication and determined the suspect was unable to care for himself. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

At approximately 8:00 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Santa Anita Park, 285 West Huntington Drive, regarding a subject in custody for trespassing. The subject was a past employee who was warned not to return to the location. The officer determined a valid arrest by private person had been made. The 25-year-old male from El Monte was transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
