The Arcadia Apaches boys soccer season came to a close in heartbreaking fashion. In the opening round of the CIF Southern Section playoffs, AHS took on Santa Paula High School and the game would be decided by late drama.
Throughout the entirety of regulation, neither team was able to break free. Neither put many shots on goal and no team found the back of the net. After no scoring in regulation, the game went to extra time, and it was much of the same. In the 1st extra time period, neither team was very effective in advancing the ball, and the score remained 0-0.
There would be a 2nd extra period, set for 10 minutes, and if neither team scored, the game would go to penalty kicks. With two minutes left, however, Santa Paula finally broke through, scoring the winning goal and ending the Apaches’ season.
