Arcadia Crime Blotters: Feb. 11 – Feb. 17
Feb. 11
Just after 7:00 p.m., an officer responded to Ralph’s, 211 East Foothill Boulevard, regarding the report of a theft. Witnesses saw a male suspect grab a case of beer and run out of the store without paying for it. The 25-year-old male suspect from Monrovia was located, arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Just before midnight, officers were dispatched to a traffic collision with injuries at the intersection of El Monte Avenue and Las Tunas Drive. An investigation revealed a male driver was seen fleeing the scene on foot. Officers located him and upon making contact, they detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. Through a series of tests, the officers determined the 38-year-old male from El Monte had been driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was also driving without a license. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Feb. 12
Just before 4:00 a.m., an officer observed a bicyclist riding on the sidewalk in the area of Las Tunas Drive and Caroline Way. The officer contacted the bicyclist and discovered he was a juvenile out past curfew in possession of cigarettes, a lighter, a methamphetamine pipe and stolen mail. The 17-year-old male from El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Just after 8:00 p.m., an officer responded to Vons, 745 West Naomi Avenue, regarding a suspect in custody for theft. A Vons Loss Prevention Agent observed the suspect select numerous items and place them in a shopping cart, then leave the store without paying for the items. The Loss Prevention Agent detained the suspect until Arcadia Police Officers arrived. The 47-year-old male from El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Feb. 13
Just before 2:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Arcadia Plaza, 713 West Duarte Road, regarding two auto burglaries. Unknown suspect(s) entered the first vehicle by unknown means and stole a laptop and a wallet. The unknown suspect(s) smashed the driver side window of a second vehicle and stole Beats headphones and a temporary driver’s license. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Just before 10:00 p.m., an officer contacted a subject standing in front of The Hilton Garden Inn, 211 North Second Avenue. An investigation revealed the subject was on parole. Upon searching the subject, the officer discovered he was in possession of drug paraphernalia. The 24-year-old from Monrovia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Feb. 14
Just after 8:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to 7-Eleven, 102 East Huntington Drive, regarding a possible theft in progress. The officers contacted two subjects behind the store and discovered one subject was in possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, foreign currency and a hammer. Further investigation revealed the suspect had committed a residential burglary by smashing a rear glass sliding door at a residence in the 300 block of Floral Avenue. The 27-year-old male from Pasadena was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At approximately 8:07 p.m., an officer responded to an apartment building in the 900 block of West Duarte Road regarding a burglary report. The suspect forced entry into a vacant apartment by breaking a window and was still inside. An investigation revealed the female suspect had been living in the apartment and using utilities. She was also in possession of drug paraphernalia. The 35-year-old female from Manteca California was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Feb. 15
Just after 1:00 a.m., an officer responded to the 7-Eleven and 76 Gas Station, 102 East Huntington Drive, regarding a vehicle parked in the handicap stall without a handicap placard. The officer made contact with the driver and an investigation revealed she was in possession of fraudulent credit cards and a credit card scanning device. The 23-year-old female from Altadena was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Just before 12:00 p.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of South Santa Anita Avenue regarding an activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS tracker. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed decoy packages containing bait property and tracking devices to combat the increase in package thefts from residential areas. Officers located the stolen package inside an abandoned stolen vehicle. Arcadia’s patrol, SWAT and K-9 officers established perimeter containment in the surrounding area. With the assistance of Glendora Air Support and K-9 officers from Pasadena and West Covina Police Departments, the suspect was found hiding in a trash can. The 39-year-old male from Rancho Cucamonga was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Feb. 16
Just after 6:00 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 2000 block of 8th Avenue regarding a report of suspected child abuse. An investigation revealed the female suspect scratched and kicked her child in the stomach. The 41-year-old female from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At about 9:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Huntington Drive and Michillinda Avenue regarding a license plate hit on a stolen vehicle. Officers located the stolen vehicle and detained the occupants. The suspects were found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, burglary tools and confirmed stolen property from residential burglaries that occurred in Arcadia and Monterey Park. The driver was also driving without a license and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The 27-year-old male and 25-year-old female, both from Pasadena, were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Feb. 17
At approximately 10:30 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of West Las Flores Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary. An unknown suspect used an unknown tool to unlock the vehicle and steal the installed radio and speakers. The investigation is ongoing.
Just before 5:00 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle the area of Santa Anita Avenue and Camino Real Avenue for an equipment violation and expired registration. The officer contacted the occupants of the vehicle and discovered the driver was driving with a suspended license and the passenger had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. The 46-year-old male from Pico Rivera was cited and released at the scene. The 41-year-old female from Monterey Park was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
