In an effort to continue its strong commitment to the community and provide greater financial relief to in-district students, Pasadena City College is refocusing its tuition-free program known as the PCC Promise.

Building off of the recently passed AB 19, the California College Promise, which covers the cost for first-year students’ tuition, PCC will reinvest its dollars into a program focused on completion.

Starting this upcoming Fall 2018 semester, the PCC Promise will be available to any student that has graduated from an in-district high school, has completed 30 degree applicable units, and is committed to taking two additional consecutive semesters with at least twelve units per semester.

“California Community Colleges have been extremely competent in providing access, but completion has not kept pace with access. The new PCC Promise will be used to ensure academic completion, and at a minimum cost to our students,” said Superintendent-President Dr. Rajen Vurdien.

Pasadena Area Community College District Board of Trustees President Dr. Anthony Fellow is excited by the PCC Promise revamp, “PCC’s dedication to refocusing the Promise Program toward degree completion will truly benefit our students. The program’s emphasis on achievement encourages goal completion while helping to ease our students’ financial burden.”
