General Municipal Election Announced for City of Arcadia April 10

Major changes could take place next year

A General Municipal Election will be held in the City of Arcadia on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, for the following Officers:

Three (3) Members of the City Council for Districts 2, 3, and 5

(Full term of four (4) years)

The nomination period began on Monday, Dec. 18, and closes Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at 4:30 p.m.

Beginning Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, the City Clerk’s office will be accepting nomination papers for City Council Electoral Districts 2, 3, and 5.  The deadline to file the completed paperwork is Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, 4:30 p.m.  Paperwork must be filed with the City Clerk’s office, Arcadia City Hall, 240 W. Huntington Drive.

To be eligible, a candidate must be a United States citizen, at least 18 years of age by Election Day, and a registered voter and resident of the Arcadia District in which the candidate is nominated.

Should any eligible incumbent not file by the deadline date of Friday, January 12, 2018, 4:30 p.m.; the filing period for non-incumbent candidates only will be extended to Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at 5:30 p.m.

If no one or only one person is nominated for an elective office, appointment to the elective office may be made as prescribed by Section 10229, of the Elections Code of the State of California.
