The annual tree lighting ceremony and holiday parade in Monrovia will be held on Dec. 7. The tree lighting ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. with the parade beginning an hour later.
The Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held in Library Park, 321 S. Myrtle Ave around the city Christmas Tree. Following the tree lighting (after giving the dignitaries a few minutes to get into the parade line up) the parade will step off.
The parade will begin at the corner of Myrtle Ave. and Chestnut and will proceed up Myrtle to Library Park. As always, the highlight of the parade will be the arrival of Santa Claus in Old Town. After the parade, Santa will be available in Library Park to listen to all the good little boys and girls (as an experienced visitor to Santa, he normally has candy canes on hand – just a hint).
As always the tree lighting ceremony is sponsored by the City of Monrovia and the parade is put on with the partnership of the Monrovia Old Town Merchants. Any questions regarding either of these activities should be addressed to Lisa Hansberger at (626)256-8246 or via email at lhansberger@ci.monrovia.ca.us.
