Monrovia Canyon Park is hosting the 2nd annual Kids Crafts in the Canyon on Nov. 26 from 1 p.m -3 p.m. The children will have an opportunity to build small planters filled with California wildflower seeds. Those interesting in participating and learning more about native plants, stop by the nature center on that day. The planters and seeds will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
There is no cost for participating in the Kids Craft, but there is an entrance fee to Canyon Park of $6 per vehicle (all the more reason to car pool with a friend).
November may seem like a strange time to be planting, but it is the best time to plant in California, especially to plant California native plants. The rainy season (with luck) will begin soon, and this allows plants to establish a root system before the drier spring and summer months.
For more information about this program, or any activities in the park, call Monrovia Canyon Park at (626) 256-8282.
