“Welcome to Kraszny, Russia”, says PNT Producing Director Lance Davis, “a comical small town where corruption reigns and is turned on its head when rumors fly that a Government Inspector has come to investigate. The Mayor, Anton Antonovich, gathers his cronies to overwhelm the visitor, Khlestokov, with false bronhomie. Khlestokov enjoys being coddled, makes himself home in the Mayor’s house, and seduces the Mayor’s wife and daughter. Suddenly he leaves after a quick engagement, promising to return, and the town celebrates its newfound rise in society, until a telegram appears announcing the real government inspector has just arrived.”

Davis distilled Gogol’s comedy into an 80-minute adaptation to introduce this classic story from 1836 to the modern audience. “Consistent with our mission to both entertain and educate, we’re introducing people to a classic comedy they may not be familiar with.”

The cast of The Government Inspector includes Paul Perri, James Calvert, Mary Chalon, Barry Gordon, Aiden Rees, John Rafter Lee, John Harnagel, Jill Rogosheske, and Lance Davis who also wrote the adaptation.
