Happenings at the Great Book Place: Monrovia Public Library
By Susan Motander
Monrovia Public Library is a great deal more than just a place to check out a book. Music and videos are also available to borrow. And there is so much more:
Homework Help available for students, Kindergarten to 8th grade
The Pro-Active Tutoring Program sponsored by Monrovia Reads with lots of other community support, provides free, pre-screened tutors to elementary and middle school students. These tutors can assist students with subjects such as reading, language arts and math. The tutoring takes place every Monday and Tuesday during the school year from 4 to 5 pm in the Storytime Room at the Library.
Lights! Camera! Read!
This is a program for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Currently the program is focused on the Great Adventurers. Join library staff on the red carpet and learn about books, authors, the Library, and more. There will be Paparazzi style photos, art projects, and prizes. The fun is guaranteed. If you attend three out of five sessions and receive a FREE BOOK! This also takes place in the Storytime Room, but on Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:30. The focus on Great Adventurers will continue through October 11th.
