Norma Pratt Mosaics at the Pasadena Village
This exhibit at the Pasadena Village will feature mosaics of recent origin that were all created in the last year and a half by Norma Fain Pratt Ph.D. in History, University of California, Los Angeles with a specialization in late nineteenth and early twentieth century political, literary and intellectual European and American history. Norma is also the Artistic Director of Telling Tales Theatre, an autobiographical writing and performance program. She has led several session of TTT at Pasadena Village in the recent past.
Under the direction and mentorship of Mary Clark-Camargo whose studio New Stone Age Mosaic is located in Eagle Rock, Norma experimented with shapes, colors, glass shards, tiles and sets of found objects. She was surprised by their outcome, especially the sense of humor and wit present in what had begun as a geometric study and then turned playful.
Dr. Pratt has been awarded a National Endowment of the Humanities Fellowship, a Ford Foundation Fellowship and is a Reader at the Huntington Library, a Researcher at the Pasadena Museum of History and the Publisher of Quesadilla Press, Los Angeles.
