When local Girl Scout, Maya Ledesma, requested to complete her Gold Award Project at the Sierra Madre Public Library, no one could have imagined she’d reach such great heights.
Along with local Daisy Troop 5871 from Sierra Madre Elementary, Maya collaborated with the Library and local schools to hold a LEGO donation drive, cleaned and sorted the donations, and started a weekly Friday LEGO program which attracted nearly 600 people during 9 programs this summer.
This isn’t the end for Maya and the Library LEGOs. The weekly LEGO Play Day has become a programming staple and will continue every Friday throughout the school year with new hours. Congratulations to Maya and the Troop 5871 for a job well done.
