Lauryn Higginson is a remarkable young woman. She is a recent Duarte High School (DHS) graduate, a former Key Club Member and a silver medal winner in Microbiology at the recent National ACT-SO event. Lauryn is heading to San Diego State University and stopped by to pick up her scholarship.
Honor Flight Southland is a unique organization with mission to safely transport American Veterans, at no cost to them, to Washington D.C. to see the memorials built in their honor. Craig Van Doren leads the organization for the LA area and shared experiences at a recent Kiwanis meeting. 93-year-old World War II Veteran, Pat Hofferbert shared his own touching experience. It is an honor for the club to hear their stories and be able to help financially as well. All are invited to help welcome home the next group on Oct. 8 at 3:05 p.m. at the Southwest Baggage Clam at LAX.
For further information on speaking or joining the club, contact Dr. Diane Hernandez at drdiane@drhernandezoptometry.com.
