After nearly a decade of drought, our region is facing severe water shortages.  To help address the challenges impacting our region’s water supply, please continue conserving water whenever possible. The best thing that we can do as a community is to continue to conserve and bring back those water-saving habits that Monrovians were so good at putting into place at the height of the drought. In our arid environment, water conservation needs to become a continual lifestyle choice with water-wise habits in place all year round.

Please watch and share Monrovia’s water conservation video widely to help spread the word about what’s happening in our region!  You can watch the full video online on the Monrovia Conserves webpage at www.MonroviaConserves.org, where you will also find additional information on how you can make a difference by conserving water and limiting your outdoor water use.

During the summer, water use spikes dramatically as individuals use extra water on their lawns and plants.  Unfortunately, much of this water is wasted due to overwater, water runoff, and evaporation.  Remember to water early in the morning or late at night to minimize water loss, and only water once every four days.  Limiting our outdoor water use can add up to huge water savings, and is a key tool in conserving water.

Please keep in mind that Monrovia is still under Phase IV Water Conservation Regulations, which means outdoor watering should be limited to:

About once per week (no more than every fourth day)

No more than 15 minutes per landscaped area.

Note: The 15-minute limit does not apply to drip irrigation systems, new planting of low-water usage plants, or if reclaimed water is being used as permitted by law. Only before 8:00 a.m. or after 6:00 p.m.
