Co-producers Gary Brumburgh, Jack LeCompte, Jacki Gibson (“Jazz Del Corazon”) and Cathy Segal-Garcia (“Human Connection”) are proud to present “Jazz vs. Cancer, Round 2,” a follow-up musical event to the highly successful cancer fundraiser put on last Feb. 2016 that benefitted the weSPARK Cancer Center in Sherman Oaks.

Sponsored this year by KCET, KJAZZ the highly-anticipated benefit will take place on Sunday, Aug. 27, with proceeds going to, at the request of Mr. LeCompte — a cancer survivor himself – City of Hope, a private, nonprofit world leader in the research and treatment of cancer and other serious diseases. Specifically, City of Hope’s Comprehensive Cancer Center has provided expert care and delivered powerful, life-saving treatments to so many since 1913.

The “Jazz vs. Cancer, Round 2” ‘good will’ fundraiser promises an exciting “Who’s Who” roster of Los Angeles jazz talent, not to mention some extremely gifted artists outside the Southern California area. This year’s outstanding singing talent includes multiple Grammy-nominated singer Tierney Sutton; Mark Winkler; Seattle-based Gail Pettis; Mon David; Sonia Santos and Ana Gazzola of Brazil; guitarist Paulinho Garcia; Cathy Segal-Garcia; Gary Brumburgh; Jackie Gibson; Cheryl Barnes; Martha Taylor Lacroix; Sidney Jacobs; Lorraina Marro, Lauren White; Larry Davis; and the improvisational troupe Fish to Birds.

Led by the incomparable team of Rich Eames and Christian Jacob on piano; Randy Landis and Harvey Newmark on bass; and Paul Kreibich and Jack LeCompte on drums, our special featured musicians include Dave Ferris (piano); Karen Hernandez (piano); Robbie Hioki (trombone); Doug MacDonald (guitar); Steve Rawlins (piano); Dr. Bobby Rodriguez (trumpet); and Ricky Woodard (sax and flute).

Please join us on Aug. 27 beginning at 4:30 p.m. as we assist and honor City of Hope. We will begin with our raffle-buying social fundraising time outdoors to be followed by the show. The event will again take place at the renowned Catalina Bar & Grill (6725 Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90028). General Tickets are $30 (plus two items minimum); VIP tickets are $90 (which includes dinner, preferred seating, a treasure bag and photo momento). Reservations can be made at: www.catalinajazzclub.com or at (323) 466-2110.
