At about 9:18 p.m., Pasadena Police officers investigated a carjacking incident in the 1700 block of East Colorado Boulevard.  Officers learned that the victim walked out of a commercial business and to her parked car, which was in the rear lot.  When the victim unlocked her car, she was confronted by the suspect who brandished a knife and demanded her vehicle. Fearing for her safety, the victim exited her car.  The suspect drove away with the victim’s car.  The case was assigned to Detective B. Glockson, who began a comprehensive investigation.  During the follow-up, Detective Glockson learned that on August 1, two LAPD patrol officers conducted a traffic stop for a minor traffic violation.  The driver stopped the car, exited quickly and attempted to run away.  The LAPD officers arrested the suspect and later determined he was driving the car taken in the carjacking.  Detectives Glockson and A. Riley responded to LAPD Hollywood Division and took custody of the suspect (Allen Gregory Neal).  Later, Suspect Neal admitted to the carjacking.

At about 8:05 p.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the 100 block of West Maple Street regarding an attempted kidnapping investigation.  On arrival, officers talked with the victim who said she was walking west on Maple Street and she saw a male standing near a parked truck with the passenger door open.  As the victim walked by the truck, she felt someone pull her hair, causing her to fall.  The suspect dragged the victim several feet back toward his truck and the victim began to scream for help.  A nearby witness noticed the struggle, which caused the suspect to release the victim.  The suspect then entered his vehicle and drove away.

The case was assigned to Detective Anthony Russo and on August 4, a composite sketch of the suspect and his vehicle was provided to the public. That same day a concerned citizen called the police department and told Detective Russo he had seen a vehicle similar to the photograph at a specific location.  Police investigators assigned to the department’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU), Detective Russo and Detectives from the Homicide Assault Unit conducted a surveillance near the 300 block of Tamarac Drive Pasadena. The suspect, Jose Diaz Servellon, Male, 29 years old, Pasadena Resident, was arrested without incident.

Detectives secured a search warrant and served it at Servellon’s residence the white pick-up truck was impounded as evidence. Servellon was booked at the Pasadena jail.  The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for criminal filing.  From the initial call of the attempted kidnapping to the identification and arrest of Servellon, Pasadena Police officers, detectives and undercover officers worked tirelessly to ensure the public’s safety.  The case was well supervised by Lieutenant Luna and Sergeant K. Gomez.  Moreover, the case underscores the talents, dedication and experience of the officers assigned to this case.
