Temple City deputies are dealing with a barricaded suspect in Pasadena.

A male suspect with a knife smashed in the windows of a local carniceria, Elizabeth Meat Market, located on 3618 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91107. Please avoid the area if at all possible.

The suspect has now holed himself up in the Colorado Apartments complex nearby. A swat team is on the scene and attempting to negotiate with the suspect.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) sent their Special Weapons Team to assist Temple Station deputies regarding the barricaded suspect, who is possibly still armed with a knife and wanted for an Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Criminal Threats.

SEB deputies have assumed command of the tactical response and Crisis Negotiation Team along with the Mental Evaluation Team. They are working to bring the situation to a peaceful resolution.

Surrounding homes have been evacuated for the safety of the residents.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Temple Station at (626) 285-7171. The suspect’s weapon was identified as a 20 inch knife. Not only did he smash windows of the carniceria, but he also attacked the owner by throwing soda bottles and threatened to kill customers. The apartment complex nearby the carniceria where the suspect barricaded himself is actually his own residence, apartment number 15.

Update:

After a constant effort of attempts to establish communication with the armed barricaded suspect by LASDCrisis Negotiation Team (CNT) and Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) Special Weapons Team, making all attempts to bring about a peaceful resolution, SEB shot several cans of tear gas inside the location.  The suspect subsequently surrendered to deputies and was taken into custody without further incident.

Twenty Seven year-old Cesar Oswaldo Jimenez was arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Criminal Threats.  He has since been transported to a local hospital for medical clearance for booking.  He is held in lieu of a $50,000 bail amount.
