Monrovia Resident Starts Fourth of July Grass Roots Fundraiser
In an effort to show support for the City’s annual Firework Show, Monrovia resident Cleve Crudgington designed a program that will provide Monrovians with an avenue through which to show their support for this year’s event.
Mr. Crudgington presented his idea at a Community Services Commission meeting, and based on the assessment, the Commission directed that staff work with Mr. Crudgington to develop the program details. Based on that direction, a program has been established which will allow residents and visitors to make a donation to help support the Firework Show. In return, all donors will receive a special sticker that reads, “I support Monrovia’s Firework Show.” Incidentally, the sticker was designed by Mr. Crudgington, and he also had the stickers produced at no cost to the City.
To implement the program, staff will be visiting with those that participate in the Fourth of July community event on the day of the fireworks show, and will through a grass roots initiative, look to “pass the hat” for those that want to contribute, and for those that want a special sticker.
The City would like to thank Mr. Crudgington for his support of Monrovia’s programs and for the donation of the stickers. For everyone who joins in the fireworks fun on July 4, 2017, in Library Park, make sure to look for City staff who will be taking donations and handing out stickers throughout the event.
