Ruth Bailey was born and raised in Monrovia, marking her 100th year as a resident

Recently, the seniors at the Monrovia Community Center celebrated Ruth Bailey’s 100th birthday with cake, treats, and a special themed tea party. Ms. Bailey’s story is that she has been a Monrovia resident for 100 years according to the latest city manager’s report. In fact, she was born right here in the community at the Monrovia Hospital.

During her time in Monrovia, Bailey has stayed active and involved in the community. Aside from being a member of both Senior Clubs, she has also been the President of Junior Woman’s Club, President of Foothill Community Concert Association, and President of PTA at Mayflower Elementary School, Santa Fe Middle School, and Clifton Middle School. She has been awarded the Distinguished Woman Award from Monrovia Junior Chamber of Commerce, received the first Service to Youth Award from Santa Anita Family YMCA, and has won prizes for her cake decorating at the Monrovia Days Festival. She also loves to travel and has been to 21 countries, and has also visited 49 states in the US. Interestingly, she hasn’t visited Minnesota – yet!
