Recently, John Muir High School hosted a celebration to mark the opening of Pasadena Unified School District’s (PUSD) new state-of-the-art television production studio.

The new studio, located on the John Muir High School campus and developed with guidance by the district’s television station KLRN Pasadena, provides students in John Muir High School’s Arts, Entertainment, and Media Academy with hands-on learning opportunities both in front of and behind the camera. The studio is designed to prepare high school students for careers in Southern California’s broadcast television, journalism, and filmmaking industries.

The 6,300-square-foot project consists of a multi-camera television production studio, state-of-the-art control room, virtual studio, media lab, and career center.

Construction of the TV studio was funded by Measure TT, the $350 million school bond initiative approved by voters in 2008. More information on Measure TT can be found at measurett.org.
The project was managed by PUSD Facilities Division project manager George Kwiter and designed by PJHM Architects with the Nazerian Group as general contractors.
