Monrovia Unified’s robotics team from Clifton Middle School, the Hippie Bots, won the FIRST Tech Challenge Dutch Open in Eindhoven, Netherlands, held May 19-20. The only U.S. representative and youngest team, the Hippie Bots topped a field of high school and college teams. The team went 5-0 in qualifying rounds and finished first in its division. The team also won the Think Award, which is given to the team that best reflects the journey members took during the engineering design process.
