There is something for everyone in June at the Pasadena Senior Center, 85 E. Holly St. You do not have to be a member to attend. Some events require advance reservations as noted.

Pain: The Universal Disorder
On Thursday, June 1, at 10 a.m., learn about causes of pain, how to manage it, the importance of treating it, and complications and fears about treatments. This will be presented by Kathy Eastwood, RN of Huntington Hospital.

The Domino Effect
Every Thursday, from June 1 to 29, at 1 p.m., come join the fun as Vicki Leigh leads participants in a rollicking version of Chicken Foot dominoes. If you’ve never played before, or even if you have, the game is easy enough for beginners yet challenging enough for more seasoned players. Oh, and please excuse the laughter every Thursday; it may be contagious! For more information, call Vicki at (928) 478-4654.

UCLA Memory Training
Every Thursday, from June 1 to 29, from 1 to 3 p.m., UCLA Memory Training will be offering an innovative education program for people with age-related memory concerns. This four-week workshop will focus on the top four concerns: forgetting names and faces, forgetting to keep appointments and other future plans, forgetting where you put things such as keys and eyeglasses, and overcoming tip-of-the-tongue forgetfulness. Participants will engage in memory quizzes and skill-building exercises through a combination of presentations and small-group discussions in a low-stress, fun environment. A Toast to the Joys of Music
Every Tuesday, from June 6 to 27, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Tom Campbell will play guitar and sing songs in the Senior Center Lounge. Stop by and enjoy his covers of traditional country, country rock, blues, folk, gospel and classic rock originally made famous by Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Vince Gill, Elvis Presley, B.B. King, Neil Young, The Grateful Dead, The Rolling Stones and many more.

“Hold These Truths”
On Wednesday, June 7, at 11 a.m., actor and playwright Jeanne Sakata, whose award-winning play “Hold These Truths” is onstage at the Pasadena Playhouse through June 25, will share insights into the inspirational true story of Gordon Hirabayashi, a civil rights hero who took his fight all the way to the Supreme Court.

Scenic Walkers Club
Every Wednesday, from June 7 to 28, at 10 a.m., enjoy a series of leisurely walks in the great outdoors. Alan Colville will give you a list of items to bring, let you know what to expect, provide detailed itineraries and arrange transportation. Natural Causes and Prevention of Osteoporosis
On Thursday, June 8, at 10 a.m., Dr. Paul Jacoy will explain the causes, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment options for Osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a common condition that affects millions of people and is a major cause of fractures in men and women. Come and learn how to combat this condition.

An Evening of Piano Music
On Friday, June 9, at 7 p.m., Citrus College piano students, along with their professor, pianist Carlos Gardels, will present an evening of solo piano performances of works by composers ranging from Scarlatti to Satie. Savvy Caregivers
Every Tuesday, from June 13 to July 25, from 2 to 4 p.m., caregivers will learn basic knowledge and skills needed to care for family members who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia. This instruction will be presented by Alzheimer’s Greater Los Angeles. Registration is required by calling (626) 685-6730. Please note there will be no workshop on July 4.

Senior Beauty Tips
On Thursday, June 15, at 10 a.m., learn how to look your best at any age and get tips about skin care and makeup. This instruction will be presented by Pasadena City College.

Hearing and Hearing Loss
On Thursday, June 22, at 10 a.m., join in a discussion about hearing and hearing loss, and learn about new technologies and hearing-related products that can help you in your day-to-day life. This discussion will be presented by Hear Center.

Disaster Preparedness
On Thursday, June 29, at 10 a.m., learn what you should put in a disaster kit, how to make plans and get trained before the next major earthquake or other disaster happens. Are you prepared for a disaster or emergency? If not, come and learn from instruction presented by the Pasadena Fire Department.
