Mayfield Softball overwhelmed Serra High School Tuesday, May 16, in the wild card game of the Southern Section division VII playoff bracket.

The Lady Cubs’ offense exploded out of the gate, scoring eight runs in the first inning. After that, they never looked back. Mayfield would score every inning except the second to continue their offensive attack. They scored 19 runs on 18 hits. Junior Monica Dezern led the way collecting three hits and five RBI’s.

Pitching was solid for the Lady Cubs as they allowed four runs in seven innings. Senior Giselle De Anda pitched a complete game allowing six hits and three earned runs with four strikeouts over seven innings of work.

Mayfield High School softball plays Bethel Christian High School Thursday, May 18, to continue the division VII Playoffs.
