Dr. Adam R. Kendall Performs to Benefit Foothill Unity Center
Foothill Unity Center, one of the premier providers of food and crisis help in the San Gabriel Valley:
Founded in 1980, Foothill Unity Center is the primary provider of food, case management/crisis help, and access to health care resources across 11 San Gabriel Valley cities in Los Angeles County, California. As the federally designated Community Action Agency for the Foothill Area, we operate two locations, in Monrovia and Pasadena, serving clients in Pasadena, Altadena, South Pasadena, Sierra Madre, Arcadia, Monrovia, Bradbury, Duarte, Azusa, Baldwin Park and Irwindale. 79% of our clients are at or below the National Poverty Level. The number of people served by the organization has more than tripled over the last five years, making community funding contributions and volunteer support more critical than ever.
This is the second year masterful musician and extraordinary physician, Adam Kendall, has agreed to volunteer his distinctive talents to help raise funds for Foothill Unity Center.
Dr. Adam Kendall has carried a passion for classical music ever since he began playing the violin and piano at the age of 5. In 2011, he began performances in public settings from train stations to street corners. He also teaches about 10 students at a local church. In lieu of performance and lesson fees, he encourages donations to locally operated charities even in his early performance career with the Columbia Symphony Orchestra.
Many of Dr. Kendall’s violin and piano solos are chosen for their ability to console and to inspire, two qualities which he found patients appreciated when he played in hospitals and convalescent homes. In 2015, Dr. Kendall began raising money for the Foothill Unity Center at the Monrovia Farmer’s Market.
A truly unique man with a unique vision: see Monrovia Weekly’s feature on Dr. Kendall earlier this year:

Dr. Kendall will also perform a duet with fellow physician, Samuel W. Chung, M.D., a medical oncologist, who earned his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of California at Riverside and his medical degree from the Loma Linda University School of Medicine.
Dr. Chung started playing violin at the age of six under the tutelage of Janice Radford of Long Beach. He then studied under Fung Ho of Arcadia. Samuel was the concertmaster of the Arcadia High School Orchestra during all four years of high school and the Pasadena Young Musicians Orchestra. These days, when he is not practicing as an oncologist, he is the Music Director of Foothills Neighborhood Church.
