Between April 27 and 28, a robbery spree of eight strong arm street robberies occurred in the City of Pasadena, wherein victims were assaulted and their cellphones, purses, wallets and/or iPads were forcibly taken.

Lt. Jesse Carrillo confirmed with Pasadena Independent Monday, that some of the robberies were connected to the Caltech assaults we alerted our readers to {see story on Page One, Pasadena Independent, May 4, 2017}

The head of security for CalTech, William Heim, issued an email memo to staff and students immediately following the string of assaults saying:

“There have been eight such incidents in recent nights, four of them near Caltech’s campus, and four of the victims have been affiliated with Caltech. In each case, the suspects have targeted individuals walking alone in a dark or secluded area, have physically attacked them, taken their personal possessions, and quickly fled in their vehicles.

According to a press release sent out by Pasadena PD, preliminary information suggested the same suspects may be responsible for the robbery spree as the descriptions of the suspects were very similar. Robbery detectives investigating the events immediately focused on the cases and developed leads resulting in the identity of three individuals responsible for the robbery spree.

On May 3 at about 4 p.m., detectives arrested Tyrek Adam, a Black male, 19 year old Pomona resident in Pasadena. Also Thursday at 10 p.m., detectives arrested Calvin Mosley, Black male, 18 years old in the 900 block of Kirkwood Ave, Pasadena, and at approximately noon. Detectives arrested one Black male juvenile, 17 years of age in Pasadena. The two adults have been booked in the Pasadena city jail and are being held on $350,000 bail. The juvenile was transported to a juvenile holding facility. Detectives successfully recovered some of the stolen property.”

Detectives will be seeking robbery and assault charges on the three suspects with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office in the next few days.
