Original King of Comedy D.L. Hughley (May 9 @ 8 p.m. at Ice House Comedy, 24 N. Mentor Ave., Pasadena) One of the most popular and highly recognized standup comedians on the road today has also made quite an impression in the television and radio arena. D.L. can currently be heard on the New York airwaves, as host of the morning show on WYKS-FM. In just a few months on air, DL has managed to increase the listenership for the station. Evelyn Waugh  Symposium (May 5 @ 9 a.m., 1151 Oxford Road, San Marino) In 2013, Loren and Frances Rothschild donated their Evelyn Waugh archive to The Huntington. Now, their gift is celebrated in a symposium which brings together researchers, editors, and archival practitioners to explore the biographical and disciplinary significance of the new holdings. The symposium is a collaboration between The Huntington, the Evelyn Waugh Society, and the UK-based Complete Works of Evelyn Waugh project. $25. Register online.
