City Honors Methodist Hospital for Prestigious Rating
City of Arcadia Mayor Peter Amundson and Mayor Pro Tem Sho Tay presented a proclamation on May 1 to Methodist Hospital President and CEO Dan Ausrnan and Board Chairman Bill Lewis honoring the hospital for its recent Medicare 5-star rating as one of the best in the nation for providing high quality, safe, effective care to patients. Methodist Hospital is one of only 83 hospitals in the country and the only hospital in Los Angeles County to receive a 5-star rating, placing it among the top two percent of the 4,599 hospitals rated nationally.
“The City of Arcadia is proud to honor Methodist Hospital of Southern California, which has provided more than a century of healthcare service to the region, and continues providing exceptional care and community outreach to all in need throughout the community,” said Mayor Amundson.
Medicare’s overall star rating summarizes up to 64 quality measures reflecting common conditions that hospitals treat, such as heart attacks or pneumonia. The overall rating shows how well a hospital performed, on average, compared to other hospitals in the U.S.
“We sincerely appreciate this recognition from the City of Arcadia that honors us as the only hospital in L.A. County to receive this distinction as a Medicare five-star hospital,” said Dan Ausrnan, President and CEO at Methodist Hospital. “We are extremely proud of our doctors, nurses, and staff for helping Methodist Hospital earn this extraordinary recognition for providing excellent patient care.”
