Michele Hanisee, president of the Association of Deputy District Attorneys will present an overview of the impact of Assembly Bill 109, and Propositions 47 and 57 at the City Council Meeting next week on May 2.

As City Manager Oliver Chi wrote in his weekly update on April 18, “Perhaps the most important element related to our overall plan for taking back our streets and our parks is to provide a mechanism through which our community can advocate for changes in State law that will restore local law enforcement authority to address quality-of-life crimes.”

In the past few years, several new laws have come into effect that have weakened and removed certain tools that law enforcement has been able to use in the past.

Hanisee will make a presentation outlining the impact of these new laws and regulations at the council meeting. The council meets on Tuesday May 2 at 7:30 p.m.
