Plans are finally complete for the improved entrance trail at Canyon Park in Monrovia. Work will begin on May 1 and will necessitate the closer of the park for two days at that time. It is anticipated that is will also close on May 8 and 9.

On May Day the construction will begin with grading and site preparation. All trail use and unauthorized vehicles are prohibited starting that day. This work will continue on the second and the closures will remain in effect.

The park will reopen to the public on May 3, but the work on the entrance trail will continue. Through the rest of the week work will continue on the curbs, walkways and in the drainage features on the area. There will be some disruption of normal activities, but it anticipated to be minimal.

Once all the construction is completed and the contractor has cleaned up, a group made up of the city’s public works team and the California Conservation Corps will install the Decomposed Granite that will constitute the surface of the walking trail.
