At-Risk Teens, Senior Citizens Make Get-Well Cards Together
At-risk teenagers and senior citizens work together to make get-well cards for hospitalized elders at 2 p.m., April 5 at Brookdale Monrovia, 201 E. Foothill Blvd., Monrovia. The youth are participants in Boys Republic, a non-profit day program in Monrovia that seeks to help adolescents facing difficulties achieve their maximum potential. The seniors reside at Brookdale Monrovia, an assisted living community.
The activity is part of a recently-launched program of monthly projects involving the teens and Brookdale Monrovia’s residents. Organizers say they believe the youth will benefit from the seniors’ wisdom and by getting to know them as positive role models; Brookdale Monrovia’s residents will gain a better understanding of what it’s like to grow up in today’s world. It’s also hoped enduring friendships will develop from the program.
Brookdale Monrovia is operated by Brookdale.
