Foothill Family is pleased to announce that it has received a $175,000 grant from the California Community Foundation’s (CCF) Education Pipeline Portfolio. The grant will support the Early Head Start (EHS) Program, serving low-income children from infancy through age three and their families in the Alhambra, Rosemead, El Monte, South El Monte, and La Puente communities. The funding ensures all 274 child enrollment slots are filled; providing young children access to quality early education that allows them to successfully transition socially, emotionally, cognitively through the education pipeline while providing parents with the necessary tools and resources to support their child’s education. Also, partial funding is earmarked to ensure all EHS program families with identified mental health care needs receive wraparound services and support at the agency’s Asher Family Center in El Monte, CA.
Ongoing research has shown that early childhood development, beginning in infancy, is a period in which profound advances take place in a child’s reasoning, language achievement, and problem solving. Over the last seven years, Foothill Family’s Early Head Start Program has provided thousands of children from infancy through age three, and their families, with comprehensive school readiness and home visitation services consisting of high-quality education, health, mental health, nutrition, family services, and social support. The provision of such high standard services allows the EHS Program to achieve its long-term success markers of: improved child development, family functioning, health, and, systems of care.
