Both the new location and the remodeled Main Street location of Espresso Cielo will offer free coffee drinks on February 8

In celebration of the opening and fresh remodel, both Espresso Cielo locations are offering free coffee drinks to all patrons on Feb. 8 (limit one per person). Serving third wave coffee, espresso, teas, pastries and signature lunch items, Espresso Cielo hones in on the classic idea of European café life, and offers a refined space to relax and recharge.

“Coffee is a ritual in the lives of millions of people, including mine, so we looked into the typical coffee bars in Los Angeles and wanted to grow the market of charming cafés,” said co-owner Diane Maler. “My husband, Lew, and I started our research in Seattle and found 49th Parallel Roasters to be so memorable that we just knew Angelenos would not be able to turn down this espresso. Their coffee is nutty and floral at the same time, and just unbelievably good.”

Both Espresso Cielo locations exclusively feature coffee and espresso roasted by 49th Parallel, a Vancouver, BC-based and is one of the few shops in Los Angeles serving these authentic beans sourced from all over the world. 49th Parallel Coffee is known to meticulously balance science with art to ensure roasting perfection and consistent flavor profiling in every batch of coffee.

In addition to espresso-based drinks and expertly brewed coffee, Espresso Cielo serves a selection of organically-grown teas from Art of Tea, fresh squeezed orange juice, pastries delivered fresh daily from local artisans and other brunch items. Guests can also enjoy light breakfast and lunch options like Avocado Toast, Fried Egg Toast, Kale Salad and seasonal soups, and the menu will continue to develop for the spring. A departure from the grab-and-go style of many Los Angeles coffee shops, Espresso Cielo encourages patrons to stop and enjoy the cultured experience and take in the atmosphere.

The décor of both Espresso Cielo locations is created by Jagar Architecture, and inspired by the traditional architecture and ambience of a European café, but with a modern edge. With damask walls, pendant lights, reclaimed wood tables and calacatta marble counter tops, the interiors are light and airy with a bit of French flair. The 2nd Street location also boasts coffee counters, a 50-seat main room and 18-foot windows, putting the bright café on full display.

“In Europe, everything seems naturally beautiful because it is authentic and old,” said Maler. “Although our cafes are new, the elements in each one are classic and inspired by European architecture.”

Co-owners and husband and wife duo, Lew and Diane Maler, opened the Main Street store in 2010, and embarked on the opening of the Second Street location in 2014. Espresso Cielo was specially selected by the City of Santa Monica to fill the space on the first floor of the colorful Parking Structure 6, adding to the many new tenants on the popular downtown Santa Monica street.
