Visitor Hotline, Live on Green return to Pasadena Convention Center in 2016

33rd Annual Visitor Hotline kickoff scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. on Dec. 29

The 33rd Annual Visitor Hotline — dedicated to helping visitors discover all things about Pasadena, the Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl game — opens at 10 a.m on Thursday Dec. 29 at the Pasadena Convention Center.

As has been part of the tradition, Rose Parade Queen Victoria Ceclia Castellanos and members of her court will be in attendance and will answer phones as visitors seek information about where to go and what to do in the Crown City.

Thursday, Dec. 29 10 a.m. –  5 p.m.
Friday, Dec. 30 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 31 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Sunday, Jan. 1 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

This year visitors can download the free, interactive “GoPasadena” app and like the “Visit Pasadena” Facebook page at www.facebook.com/visitpasadena or get more information at Visit Pasadena.

Visitor Hotline is staffed by volunteers from throughout the community and operates from the Pasadena Convention Center, 300 East Green Street. Volunteers are available to answer questions about the Rose Parade, Rose Bowl Game, pre- and post-parade and game activities, parking, accommodations, dining, directions, other holiday-related events, and more.

The 128th Rose Parade presented by Honda begins at 8 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2017. The Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual, featuring a match-up between Penn State and USC, will kick off at 2:10 p.m. (PST).

Live on Green returns Dec. 30

Everyone is welcome to attend this free festival taking place in and around the Pasadena Convention Center in the days leading up to the Rose Parade, Dec. 30-Jan. 1

Come enjoy the history and pageantry of the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl Game; be awe-struck as Aircrew and Special Tactics Airmen demonstrate the latest and greatest in surveillance and intelligence, climb into the cockpit of Rapid Strike simulator and so much more as we kick-off the 70th anniversary of the US Air Force.

Or, test your skills in our Family Fun Zone featuring activities from the LA Rams and our new Shriner’s Hospital. If that’s not enough, whet your appetite at the Culinary Cues stage while you dance and sing along with live musical performances.

Pasadena inaugural half marathon set for Jan. 22, registration open

The inaugural Pasadena Half Marathon and 5K at the Rose Bowl will take place on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017. Enjoy the picturesque course through beautiful Pasadena, passing landmarks like the Colorado Street Bridge, Old Town Pasadena and Cal Tech University before a majestic finish on the field at the world famous Rose Bowl.

All participants will receive a race shirt, finishers medal, post-race refreshments and a truly unforgettable race experience.

The half marathon has an age limit of 12 years old. All participants must be at least 12 years of age on race day. To register, visit PasadenaHalf.com.

Prairie Home Companion to broadcast live from Pasadena

Radio favorite Prairie Home Companion with Chris Thile will be on stage at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Sat. Jan. 21 at 2:45 p.m. Sponsored by radio station KPCC, tickets for the live broadcast are available online via Ticketmaster or in person at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium Box Office. Thile will be joined onstage by musician Ryan Adams.

Tattoo show featuring Big Gus, Nikko Hurtado and more comes to Pasadena Jan. 27-29

Friday Jan. 27 through Sunday Jan. 29, the Pasadena Convention Center will host the Golden State Tattoo Expo featuring Nikko Hurtado and Carlos Torres.

Visitors can meet invited guest tattoo artists, vendors; and experience music, contests, entertainment and an art gallery.

Among the special guests are Paul Booth, mastermind behind Last Rites; Stefano Alcantara, self-taught artist; and many more including Norm, Big Sleeps and Big Gus.

Brick fans of all ages invited for weekend show in Pasadena

Brick fans of all ages are invited to explore the models on display, shop with vendors for sets and accessories, and let their imaginations run wild in the free build area!

Bricks LA 2017 will take place January 27-29 at the Pasadena Convention Center (Conference Center Lower Level).
Public exhibit hours are Jan. 28-29 from 10 a.m- 5 p.m.

Tickets for the public exhibit can purchased online through Ticketmaster and at the box office the day of the show. Admission is $10 per person. Children under age 5 can enter for free.

K-Pop sensations Got7 do the last night of their Fan Meet tour at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Sunday Jan. 29 at 7 p.m.

Antiquarian Book Fair returns to Pasadena on Feb 4-5

The Antiquarian Book Fair returns to the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Feb. 4 – 5.

The fair is filled with exciting dealers from all over the world, bringing items to the public for view and purchase. The two-day event will have a scheduled lecture titled “Gutenberg — The Man and The Book.” The lecture will be delivered by Emil Eusanio.

Adult tickets are $8, seniors can attend for $6. Children up to 12 years old are free.

Medi-Cal provider seminar at Pasadena Civic on Feb. 14

Medi-Cal Provider Training Seminar will be hosted by Xerox State Healthcare, LLC. Classes will be conducted to assist Medi-Cal providers throughout California on how to bill the Mei-Cal Program. The event runs on Feb. 14 – 15. Hours are 8 a.m to 5 p.m. each day. It is free and open to the public.

PARKING
Parking at the Convention Center is $12 per day for up to 16 hours or $18 per day for in and out privileges. The subterranean parking structure is shared with the Sheraton Pasadena. The entrance is located on Euclid Avenue between Green Street and Cordova Street. Additionally, parking is available in several private structures around the convention center, these are operated by Paseo Colorado.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS
The Pasadena Convention Center is located in downtown Pasadena, off of the 210 freeway as well as the 110 freeway. For detailed direction click here.

METRO GOLD LINE
The Metro Gold Line is a light rail train system that runs from Downtown Los Angeles to Pasadena. There are two train station within walking distance, (1) Del Mar Station is three blocks away, it is about ten minutes to walk to the Convention Center and there is a small hill. (2) Memorial Park Station is four blocks away, it takes about eight minutes to walk to the Convention Center and there are no hills on this route. Cost is $1.75 per person each way, students pay $1 each way.
