Pasadena Fire Chief Bertral Washington and Pasadena Police Chief Phillip Sanchez held a joint press conference outside one of the elaborately decorated homes in Hastings Ranch Tuesday morning.

Holiday safety tips from both agencies in front of the decorated home in a neighborhood where thousands frequent every season and every block has a different theme. Police chief Sanchez and Fire Chief Washington offered numerous safety tips on what the public can do to avoid being the victim of a crime and traffic safety in these areas.

Fires increase during the Holiday Season due to a potentially deadly mix of decorations, candles, electrical wiring, Christmas trees and carelessness. Thefts also increase during this time and carelessness is generally the cause. The Pasadena Fire and Police Departments wish to remind the public about the importance of holiday safety—in the home; shopping; on the road or wherever you are.
