Doo Dah Parade 2016 Honors the Life of Snotty Scotty
By Terry Miller
As if on cue, the clouds opened up a few minutes into the parade Sunday morning and a small amount of light rain (someone in the crowd said it was God shedding tears for Snotty Scotty.) Then, a colleague informed me that the first parade in which Snotty Scotty appeared, sure enough … it rained. Therefore, Doo Dah 16’s weather was a fitting tribute indeed, courtesy mother nature.
Although the weather kept the crowds a little smaller this year, there was no shortage of enthusiasm for the wacky entries and political statements that make Doo Dah so much fun. Queens, past, present and future walked Colorado to strut their stuff down the two block stretch of Colorado in East Pasadena to the delight of thousands of spectators. Hundreds of Snotty Scotty tributes included fans with an image of Snotty Scotty shot by Terry Miller. One sign said it all: “R.I.P. Rock in Peace Snotty Scotty.”
