View Winners → Pasadena Police Arrest Six Suspects Involved in Two Shootings

On October 17, at about 3:30 p.m., Pasadena Police Officers responded to a call of shots fired at Villa Parke. The victim (a known local gang member) was shot at by suspects who were in a Silver Toyota Corolla. The suspects fled the location and the intended victim was not struck by gunfire.
Two days later, on Oct. 19, at about 6:59 p.m., Pasadena Police Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 100 block of Grandview Street in Pasadena. Officers obtained a description of the suspects, to include their vehicle a silver Toyota Corolla. There was also information provided to police that the intended victims of this shooting returned gun fire. Based on the information it was apparent to police Detectives that the suspects in the silver Toyota Corolla were possibly the same who were involved in Villa Parke shooting two days earlier.
Since the shootings, Pasadena Police Detectives relentlessly worked on leads and found the suspect vehicle used in both shootings. This in turn also led to the service of several search warrants and ultimately the identity and arrests of the suspects.
The Pasadena Police have arrested; Joseph Vargas 18 year old male Hispanic, Edward Vargas 19 year old male Hispanic, and two male African Americans both ages 15 for the shooting at Villa Parke on Oct. 17 and also for the shooting on Grandview Street on Oct. 19. Additionally, this investigation also led to the arrest of two additional male Hispanic juveniles both ages 17 also for the shooting on Grandview Street on Oct. 19.
Based on the information this case was gang related and the suspects have been booked for assault with a deadly weapon, shooting from a vehicle, and one suspect
was also booked for possession of a firearm. The case is being presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for consideration of filing.
“Like many shootings involving gang members, this case was very complex. However, because of the commitment of the involved investigators they were quickly able to identify the suspects responsible for the shootings. This investigation underscores the police department’s commitment to public safety and our relentless pursuit of predators in our community” said Police Chief Phillip Sanchez.
